Calling all jazz lovers! If you have dabbled in jazz music before and would like to meet jazz practitioners who may be able answer questions about how to play jazz, this free workshop is for you!

Come and meet Melissa Tham (vocal); Joshua Wan (piano); Soh Wenming (drums) and Dr Tony Makarome (bass) - Bright Young Things mentors and members of the local jazz band Noir as they take you through an insider's view on the mechanisms of jazz. The band will take you through the basic jazz forms, jazz improvisation concepts, and teach you what to listen out for when enjoying jazz music. You will also gain valuable tips on
what it's like to perform jazz; and how to improve as individual players or in an ensemble setting.

Accomplished jazz musicians Tim O’Dwyer, Euntaek Kim and Chok Kerong also make a special appearance to share about their music careers.

What’s more, you get the special opportunity to witness an open rehearsal by current members of Esplanade’s Bright Young Things jazz programme and catch a glimpse of these talented young jazz musicians coming up with a performance repertoire under the watchful eyes of their mentors from Noir.

Sign up now! Limited vacancies.
