Wood Putty

Recently decided to change the tuning pegs on my beloved Epiphone G400, only to find that the original tuning pegs had unusually large holes drilled into the headstock. Read a bit about it online and found that I needed to fill up the holes and redrill them to make them fit.

Anyone knows where to buy wood putty? Or knows people who can help solve the problem?

Thanks in advance!

Woodputty is fine if you just want to fill the holes. But its too soft if you want to redrill the hole. To do that you need to drill the hole larger, dowel its and redrill.

Use a toothpick to fill up the hole. Snap to size and screw the screw back in. For larger holes like strap pin, use satay stick. Don't use putty. Too soft. Toothpick and satay stick are solid wood. Try and you'll see.

OT putty is usually used for guitar refinishing to fill up unsightly holes.

Thanks for all the advice; will pop down to Art Friend to check out both the putty and the dowels :)

Are you talking about
the little screw hole (the one to stop the tuning pegs from rotating)
or
the big hole in which the tuning peg goes through ?

Don't want you to go doweling up the wrong hole
