hi all,

i'm lookin' to get an Electro-Acoustic or issit Acoustic-Electric? are they the same..?

budget $500(lower would be better..)

needs:
low action, with cutaway, stay in tune reasonably well..

i dont know much 'bout acoustics & Electro-Acoustics...this will be my 1st Electro-Acoustic....only had an acoustic b4..

any recommendations?

I think the right term might be electric acoustic... might be wrong too... with that budget, prob you can get a yamaha apx500 from luther for about $475 with on-board electronics. Only thing is that its not a solid top guitar...
here is their webpage Welcome to Luther Musicworks

Have fun shopping

thx...thats one of those i'm considering...

any others..?

how much would a solid-top with my requirements(1st post) cost roughly..?

What I can suggest is to get a good acoustic guitar without the electronics.

Then get this from citymusic:-

Martin Thinline gold

Its a good pickup and you can take it out when you upgrade the guitar.

If citymusic doesn't have it, you can get this from Sinamex (SGD133 + installation 45)
Fishman AG

When using these, you can also have the flexibility of getting a good used acoustic.

You might want to try this without pickups:-
Cort Jade 2

Or if you want a slim cutaway acoustic, you can try this:-

Cort SFX-1
Although without plugging in, its a bit thin due to its thin body.

I think with with your budget, you might be able to get one of those G series Takamine guitars. My church a-guitarist bought one for slightly above 500 and when she plays it on stage. It's heavenly. Very warm and homely sound :)
