Live/Studio guitarist.

Hi,does anyone know like are there jobs like a studio guitarist or a live guitarist?Like a guitarist who tour with those artists that are solo but need a live band?If there is,what can i do to like have a step in the right direction?Audition with Sony or something?

Bands usually pick the sessionists they want themselves not the labels....Though I may be wrong about this but that's what I know
