Thank you for sharing this info with us. I would like to get your view on this topic of guitar nut. I understand that the nut has little or no bearing on tone quality. So, it does not matter if its plastic, bone or ivory. Its just there to hold the strings in place, and adjust the height of the strings. Saddles and pins affect the tone more. Is this so? Thanks!

Density of material affects the way the strings transmit sound along the neck. Imagine putting a rubber nut. In the same way machine heads affect tone, the density of the nut also affects the sustain of both open and fretted notes. Someone did a study on this before but I can't remember where the link is.

As long as its a good wearing dense material, it is suitable for the nut. The rest lies in the hands of the luthier.
