attenuation of amps

anyone here knows if a solid state amp can be attenuated to produce lower wattages? i have a loud amp so i was thinking of lowering the wattage of the amp

any shops or people tat can do it?

I shouldn't reply this as I don't have the appropriate knowledge, but never heard of a attenuator being used on a SS amp. It's something to do with controlling the power to the transformers that goes to the tubes and to the speakers.

This is layman speak so I apologize before hand.

for an SS amp, to get lower volume, just turn the damned knob down.

for solid states i think the vox ad30 onwards has a built in attenuator.

i have no idea why since there's a master volume.
