The Rockett Animal is a versatile overdrive guitar pedal that emulates the chewy mids and depth of a "Plexi" sound.
The low end doesn't sound too unnaturally tight, and the highs are bright yet open, giving the pedal an overall "huge" sound - the kind you'd expect to get when playing through a real tube amp.
This is not surprising, given that the animal was modelled after the original 1968 "Plexi" amplifiers. A flick of the "snarl" switch gives you grit and aggression; a modern take on a vintage "bite".
The dynamic response of this pedal is also astounding - and I don't say this lightly, having played through a series of other plexi emulators that claim to be able to do the same thing (Catalinbread DLS, Carl Martin Plexitone, Menatone KOTB, Wampler, etc.) I don't have the original box, unfortunately.
