Are you looking for a secondary recording device?
If yes, you might be interested in the Fostex MR-8 Digital Multitrack Recorder.
The MR-8 is a digital multitrack recorder.
It can record up to 8 tracks but only 2 tracks simultaneously.
The MR-8 is capable of producing decent audio recordings at 44.kHz/16 bit quality.
It has basic onboard effects processors eg distortion, mike simulator, reverb/delay and mastering EQ.
However, unlike its newer cousins, you get with play with real sliders and real knobs on the MR-8.
Plus it also looked good in a Ferrari Red chasis.
The MR-8 records onto Compact Flash in WAV format.
With that, you can transfer the recordings onto your DAW for more serious audio editing.
(You can do it too on the MR-8 but it can be quite a chore.)
As the MR-8 can be powered by battery or by AC, it is extremely portable.
It even has a built in microphone and therefore it can used anywhere, eg in the park, in a chalet etc as your secondary music sketch pad.
For more serious offsite work, you only need to bring along 2 mikes.
I have little use for the MR-8 now as I have transferred my recordings to my DAW.
I am willing to let the MR-8 go at $120.
It is in excellent condition.
It will come with a Fostex Adaptor and a few Compact Flash cards, more than enough for your use.
