Windows media center Xp Editon problems

Jus got a free pc from starhub which comes preinstalled with Windows media center Xp Editon. I was having problems with my SOnar 4 which i asked here:
http://soft.com.sg/web/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=28407

Listened to the advice and dloaded the ASIO driver, and the problem went away but now watever I record has this auto phasing effect. uninstalled the asio and it still happens. Surf the web, read that windows media center edition is a source of problems for recording softwares and hardwares. http://www.sweetwater.com/sweetcare/ts/detail.php?Index=30163&keyword=media center

So just wondering if anyone out there is using windows media center edition and is facing the same or similar issues as me? Cos I was contemplating gettin a better soundcard but is paranoid that there may be OS, hardware compatibility issues. Was comtemplating either a EMU-0404 or a M-audio 2496

i would have been glad to test it for you , but my starhub gave me a laptop. so i only got an echo darla20 PCI to spare. if you want I can lend it to you , just come on over to my workplace during weekdays (excluding lunch hours) then see if it's got the same problemo. and yes, I know echo darla is an old soundcard, but i'm sure it'll be worth your try since i'm not charging for any "rental" fee.

pm me if you're interested

cheers
