The albums that Kiled it.

Basically we've all had our favourite bands and albums where you could listen to a single album on repeat straight for weeks on end.

Then the band does a new album and no matter how much you love the band or want to support, the new material/direction just Kills it.

No arguments or flaming guys, just your albums and opinions :D
" <-- " & " --> " signifies anything before or after said album

I'll start with some random ones!~

My Chemical Romance
Made it: Bullets, Three Cheers
Killed it: Black Parade -->

Green Day
Made it: <-- DOOKIE, International Superhits! -->
Killed it: American Idiot -->

Avril Lavigne
Made it: Let Go, Under My Skin
Killed it: The Best Damn Thing (sorta) --> What The Hell

Bullet For My Valentine
Made it: The Poison
Killed it: Scream, Aim, Fire (sigh)

Sum 41
Made it: All Killer No Filler, Does This Look Infected?
Killed it: Chuck -->

VersaEmerge
Made it: Perceptions EP, VersaEmerge (self-titled)
Killed it: Fixed at Zero <--- not that it really killed it for me but there's only a couple of stuff that I actually like. Really wished they did stuff like on the Perceptions EP, more guitar oriented and stuff. Guess it doesn't help when they've got 2 awesome members leaving the band.

Anberlin:
Made it: Never Take Friendship Personal, Cities
Killed it: Dark Is A Way, Light Is A Place. Never Take Friendship Personal was oozing energy. Cities was raw but full of expression. New Surrender toned down expression, but was more honest to the heart. Dark Is A Way just sounds... dull. Could have been a lot better.

Muse:
Made It: Origins Of Symmetry, Absolution
Killed It: The Resistance.

X JAPAN
Made it - Vanishing Vision, Blue Blood, Jealousy, Art Of Life
Killed it - Dahlia and everything after

Sonata Arctica
Made it - Ecliptica
Killed it - Unia ( utter disappointment )

Nirvana
Made It - Nevermind
Killed It (or rather.. Kurt Cobain) - 20-gauge Remington shotgun.

sorry couldn't resist.

Sad but true, literally. Not-so-hot guitarist, but a damn good artiste. Good music doesn't equate to 1000 notes per minute or 20 minute solos.

The Darkness

Made it: Permission to Land
Killed it: One way ticket to Hell...And Back

Plus the lead singer Justin Hawkins' rehab, too.

Actually, TS, have to disagree with you on the Green Day bit. Enjoyed AI and 21st. Can't really compare them to Insomiac or Dookie, IMHO.

As for my choices:

Arctic Monkeys
Made it: Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not
Killed it: Humbug (too much change)

Trivium
Made it: Ember to Inferno
Killed it: Shogun

Linkin Park
Made it: Minutes to midnight
Killed it: A thousand suns

Living Sacrifice
Made it: Reborn
Killed it: Conceived in fire

No offence to anyone, my musical tastes are different from yours.

The Smashing Pumpkins
Made it: Siamese Dream
Killed it: Adore (it signalled a new era of SP sound, which I don't mind but the paradigm shift shaved off their followers)

No offence, but I would like to politely disagree with you. I felt that Hybrid Theory was what made the band, but like what noobkerpal and AzNjt, but Minutes To Midnight was the beginning of their downhill journey.
