My Vox ad15vt is cutting out randomly! Diagnosis needed.

I have had this Vox AD15VT for about 1.5 years now. Whenever i play the higher gain modes, the gain drops now and then. From distortion it goes to nothing then back again. Its totally unplayable as it isnt nice to listen to that kinda sound. I tried using other amps and there is no problem, thus it is my amp that is causing it.

I tried to open the back of the amp today and couldnt find a way through. Anybody knows what the problem is? If the preamp tube dies, will there be these kinds of symptoms?

tap the 12ax7 tube while playing.. if your sound "taps" along.. its time to change the tube.. less than $20 nia..

The sound wavers and dies out once it goes below a certain loudness. No sustain also. I tried tapping the tube but there isnt any response.

Is it cost effective to repair this or not? Thanks!

If i'm not wrong in a previous thread City Music was offering free repairs for those owning the Vox advt series if the problem was inherent from production.
