Lumina Live! presents the LiveWire Sessions featuring Jens Lekman.
Swedish musician Jens Lekman inaugurates Lumina Live!’s LiveWire Sessions with his resounding music.

Swedish chart topper Jens Lekman will inaugurate Lumina Live!‘s LiveWire Series, with a performance at The White Rabbit restaurant for one night only on 1 December 2008. This gig marks his second performance in Singapore, after a very well-received one in January 2007.

LiveWire Sessions
Conceptualized by Lumina Live! as an event series that focuses on unique ‘live’ music at special venues, LiveWire Sessions brings alternative music to a different experiential level. LiveWire Sessions will feature music acts and artistes who are emerging stars, and a high level of interaction and proximity between artistes and audience, at the events as well as on cyberspace (http://www.luminalive.sg/v2/index.php).

LiveWire Sessions bring the freshest and most exciting music events to its audience through creative concepts and definitive music.

Jens Lekman
Jens Lekman’s music is a mix of melodic pop, a witty sense of humour and a unique vocal delivery. Awarded four and a half out of five stars by major online music site AllMusic.com, Lekman’s latest album Night Falls Over Kortedala (a reference to a small neighborhood in Sweden), released late last year, features grandiose orchestral arrangements supporting clever lyrics and sung with his arresting baritone vocal. Released in October 2007, it has been described as his best record to date by both Pitchfork Media and AllMusic.com.

His debut album When I Said I Wanted To Be Your Dog, released in 2004, reached 6th on the Swedish charts with single “You Are The Light” becoming a radio hit, while its video received heavy rotation on Nordic MTV. The album started a chain of spotlights with Jens Lekman nominated for, among other awards, three Swedish Grammies, and the album being named album of the year by influential Swedish music magazine Nöjesguiden. It was also critically acclaimed among the alternative music press in both Europe and the US.

Lekman performed at major music festival Coachella in April 2008, alongside acts like Portishead, Death Cab For Cutie, Fatboy Slim and Justice. Variety.com reported that Lekman delivered a “grin-inducing, buoyant set at the festival”, and this energy will be evident in the coming performance in Singapore.
Jen’s music and disposition will light up The White Rabbit restaurant, which provides an idyllic, intimate space for the young talent and supporting sound artist Viktor Sjöberg. This marks the first time a concert is taking place in the restored chapel turned restaurant, creating a one-of-a-kind experience for audience and artists alike.

The White Rabbit
Named after the White Rabbit in Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland, this restored chapel turned restaurant is known for its awe- inspiring, beautiful interiors and charming menu. Located at 39C Harding Road, just off the Dempsey Area, The White Rabbit is a place where time stands still and one feels naturally at ease.
