Universal Music Singapore, Foundation Music and Umami Records are pleased to announce that Linying’s third single: the title track to her debut EP, ‘Paris 12’ will be released on 2 September followed by the EP on 30 September. Linying also signs to Universal Music Singapore on a multi-rights deal which includes recording rights, live shows, endorsements and merchandising. She will be co-managed by Universal Music Singapore and Foundation Music.
Linying’s rise to prominence was partly due to her early collaborations with European House giants, Felix Jaehn and Lost Frequencies in late 2014. The young singer-songwriter has since solidified her status as one of the most promising artists coming out of Asia, with her debut single ‘Sticky Leaves’ released in 2015 amassing more than 1 million plays on Spotify alone. Catching the ears of critics and listeners everywhere, her sound was praised by Billboard as being “poetic with earthy imagery and lush instrumentals.” All Songs Considered by NPR noted the Bon Iver sensibilities and highlighted the track in its weekly New Mix playlist.
Having collaborated with Gentle Bones on his single ‘Liar’ and been the first female singer-songwriter from Singapore to perform at the recent Summer Sonic Festival in Japan, with a string of upcoming ‘Paris 12’ tour dates across Asia, Europe and Australia, 2016 is set to be the breakthrough year for Linying.
