hi all, im currently playing bass, but i have this urge to try drumming..
i thought of buying a pair of sticks and a practice pad so i can practice some rudiments... i went to swee lee to check out the prices of the practice pads and the cheapest i saw was $45...

anyone know where sells cheapo practice pads? i dont wish to spend $45 on a practice pad and end up leaving it in my drawer to rot as im afraid my interest for drumming would only last for a short period of time..

Options for DIY pads
Wooden chopping board, or use any old plank of wood, and get a neoprene mousepad and glue that on.
Another material you can use is a rubber mat over the wood.
Old textbooks and telephone books work great too.

weckl-x: i was thinking of sticking a piece of mousepad on a telephone book
as well...
but i dig my whole house, cannot find any mousepad haha.. think
have to go buy one..

jeepers: the HQ Apprentice pad looks good.... where did u buy it from?ranking?
$20++ for that?

Get a free of charge pad. your tigh/lap. I do that often though I have pads. but is not compatible as drum sticks. So I usually only bring sticks around, not pads. Initially is quite painful, but soon U will get used to it already. :-D
