Bass frets

Anyone else has an issue with their frets getting rusty? My jazz bass is well stored, wiped after playing and i don't have sweaty palms, but my frets are like whoa, pretty rusty

frets shouldn't rust...i think it's just getting tarnished, like most metal parts on a guitar. you could polish them if it bugs you too much.

I think those can be found at TYMC. Try Swee Lee and Ranking too, maybe they have it. I saw it somewhere but I just can't remember.

RE fret polishing- just get a tube of brasso, two pieces of tape (to mask off the sides of the frets so the brasso doesn't get into the wood) and polish the frets with an old cloth or t-shirt. repeat with every fret... spend 15 minutes and they should be as good as new.

^ I do that too but I use Autosol instead of Brasso.

Does the tape necessarily have to be non adhesive or can i just use the normal white masking tape?

masking tape is fine

Yup, masking tape will do. That's what I usually use.

A tube is pretty cheap anyhoo. You can use any metal polish paste or even toothpaste if you want.

I try to keep steel wool away from the bass, even if it's used only on the neck. Don't want to risk getting it into the pickup windings.
