WTS: US-Made Taylor DN3 - $1300
If you’re after an amazing instrument, please consider this DN3 Dreadnought:
- Solid spruce top
- Solid sapele back and sides
- 1-3/4 inch neck width
- Made in El Cajon, California, USA
Good condition, with a few very minor cosmetic dings shown in the photos. The wider neck, common in all-solid Taylors, is a boon for fingerstyle. All solid guitars are generally considered non-entry level, having a better tone that matures over time.
The DN3 does not have electrics built in, having been designed with a focus on acoustic qualities. Personally, my preference is a good guitar as a foundation, to which I then don't mind adding electrics if required. Better that than amplifying a guitar which doesn't sound good in the first place.
I have never come across a bad review for this guitar, and most sellers regret it.
US-made Taylors tend to hold their value. Comparing the specs and prices of current Taylor Dreadnoughts:
AD17
- Probably the cheapest all-solid US-made Taylor which costs about $2,000
- Solid top, back and sides
- 1-3/4 inch neck width
- Made in El Cajon, California, USA
210ce
- Costs about $1,300
- Solid top, laminated back and sides
- 1-11/16 inch neck width
- Made in Tecate, Mexico
110e
- Will set you back almost $1,100:
- Solid top, laminated back and sides
- 1-11/16 inch neck width
- Made in Tecate, Mexico
