WHY?
You might wonder why we bother to play old blues, jazz, swing and roots music from the 40s, 50s and 60s, when we could get more acceptance playing top 40s, jazz, indie or some sub genre of popular music.
Simply put, we've come to the realisation that in between the aggression and the melancholy of modern music, there is a quiet truth that lies in soul of old blues, jazz and roots music.
Furthermore, it makes us unique. Nothing would make us happier than to contribute to the diversity of local music.
And hey, the 1940s to the 60s have brought us great music and great music has to be heard and never, ever forgotten.

WHAT?
Comprising of four friends coming together for the love of old music, Chicken Shack Revival has been entertaining audiences for 3 years from big stage such as the Esplanade to small bars around town.
Lead man and multi-instrumentalist Louis Lam has been a bassist for 20 years in various bands, he later dabbled into drums and is now dedicated to singing and playing the harmonica.
Chris Gomez has been a mainstay bassist for several blues bands in the Singapore blues scene for some years, while seasoned drummer Justin Teo used to play with Soul'd Out with Singapore Idol finalist, Matilda D'Silva.
Gregory Leow has been teaching and performing guitar from big festivals to small pubs for the past 10 years and has been active in several local blues bands. his full music profile can be found here: http://soft.com.sg/forum/teacher-available/185328-acoustic-electric-blues-guitar-lessons.html

FEEDBACK?
Media and internet comments and reviews:

Reported in Channel News Asia's Get Real! segments in December 2010.

Listed in CNNgo.com as one of 5 great live music acts to catch in Singapore. (4 November, 2010)

"Frontman Louis not only sings in a low, sexy rumble, he also blows a mean harmonica, while he bops around on stage with a swagger to match. This is a band with an attitude and the substance as well, with profound guitar work interwoven with the rhythm section's tight funky beats" - Cara Van Mirah, ST Life 20th August 2010

"GET YOUR CSR. No, I’m not talking about your company’s ECA, I’m talking about the band who call themselves Chicken Shack Revival, a foursome fronted by Louis Lam, who like to churn out the blues – and they promise not make it boring with overlong over-the-top self-gratifying solos et al. Anyway, they’ll be doing a gig featuring, in their words, “3 sets of vintage ‘50s and ‘60s blues, rock and roll, early jazz, funk and a whole barrel of laughs from the band”.
Well, what’s the worst that can happen, right? : )" - Chris toh, today newspaper, march 18, 2010

"Comprising four friends, the band give their take on the blues." - Friday Picks, Straits Times, march 12, 2010

"Band member Louis from local band "Chicken Shack Revival" has emailed me in regards to their gig at Prince of Wales bar this Saturday 3 Oct 09. If u are not sure if u should watch them live, here's some live video performance of them playing in Esplanade. U guys are in for a blues treat!" - AJ Chen, musicartlifesg.blogspot.com, September 29, 2009

" a wide spectrum of blues, from house-rockin' stomps, funky jams, swinging west coast style jump blues, to soulful Chicago blues." - Prince of Wales bar website commentary

"Oh just so right.! Ya'll are so good together, keep up the good work." - bluesjuke, youtube

"congrats's to all of chickenshack!!
you guys really rocked it! i love the simplicity of a small combo playin' sooo tastefully!!
you OBVIOUSLY have learned your blues & jazz lessons well!! you FURTHER the art form, being mindful of the past!!
keep up the fantastic work, & may all your gigs be this scenic!!" - dosanchoas, youtube

"Hey Louis, nice touch on this tune !" - mikegobatti, youtube
