Portable kit

My humble compact kit made up of mix and match hardware. Built it with portability and small/acoustic gigs in mind.

i see my pearl eliminator!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:)

hey mel80, how did you mod your pedal? I'm interested to know. want to do it to my cheap mapex pedal. don't know if that's possible.

oh i see... does the feel change? Is it good to play upwards for practice? (i.e. are there any detrimental effects to playing like that for long term?) I intend to omit my bass drum from my kit to save more space and drum more comfortably.
Thanks :)

I dont actually think you will feel more comfortable in playing this way. It is actually meant for gigging purposes and not for practice. You need to learn to feather the bass or else your floor tom will be all over the place. BUT by feathering it, your bass may not come through due to the size and gravity of the tom and pedal.

I actually dont like the feel of it and only will resort to this if the venue doesnt allow for that kind of real estate.

My own personal opinion only.

7earsDoFall:
Softwaremaker is right. Not all pedals can be modded this way. As far as I know, Eliminators and Iron Cobra can be modded this way. Not too sure about other pedals. I think as long as your pedal allows you to break everything apart without spoiling it, it'll work. You must be able to remove the turning mechanism and the chains so that you can flip them around.

Playing wise, it is definitely not the most ideal as compared to the conventional way. It feels different and I cannot dig in like I normally do. It requires quite a bit of control. I have to convert from my usual heel up technique to heel down, or else the floor tom will move. But my intention for this kit is for ease of portability and setting up. So it does fine for small acoustic venues. Sound wise, it definitely can't match that of a proper bassdrum, but give and take lah.
