CME dealers

Anybody knows whether City Music is still bringing in CME products? If not, who is?

Thanks!

I was in Citymusic last week. They no more sell the CME stuff.. Looks like the Indonesian dealer is the distributor for Asia Pacific ??

Thanks Joel! That's interesting. I wonder why they stopped bringing them in. They should be able to sell better than the M-audio controllers since they more ergonomically and has better touch than M-audio. Guess they didn't do too well at marketing.

Cheez !

Price plays major role compared to other controllers.. CME is certainly priced at Premium considering its build and features. But looking at the place where it is made... makes everyone why the price is high even if it is made in PRC ? comparing the competitor's pricing...

I tried to buy in Indonesia...but the price there is higher than retail...reasons given by dealer is they pay 150% tax for customs and bribing some how...(USD 20k per container ??)

Even Korg M3 is not yet out due to this corruption...Do you know that Sony didnt open their factory in Indonesia just because of this reasons...

yeah the local CME dealers made really little effort in marketing the products. i heard they moved the dealership to malaysia.

Joel, what price were you quoted? The MRSP is very reasonable for the UF series, considering that it has aftertouch and uses the GEM RP series weighted keys (as compared to M-audio's keystation pro which do not come with aftertouch and uses plasticky keys with keybed that thumps loudly when played). The earlier CME has some driver problems (I sort of expected that because of where they were made), but most of them, as I understood, were resolved. Instead, I've heard of a number of reports from people who sent back their M-audio the very next day they bought it not because they are faulty, but because they just don't match up (despite their low price).

And of course, comparing with other competitors like Fatar is no competition at all, considering that Fatar is priced way higher. China products are not that bad. Not all the parts are made there (eg. the keys themselves, which are the most important). It is however assembled in China. In fact, as I understand, one of the selling point of CME is the lower pricing and features. Perhaps things have changed within the last year that I'm not aware of?

Or maybe the problem is with Indonesia. Perhaps Malaysia then? Or perhaps some entrepeneurs in SOFT will like to bring in the products and sell them...

Yeah, I remember that guy organising the launch for CME. Wonder what happened to him...

So it appears that we can only get it overseas, at least for now.

The indonesian dealer is www.chandracom.net

The price is as quoted on his website... If you need, contact our forum member "mixcubed" and he can arrange for that as the owner is his friend..

The owner (Setiadi) is basically a nice guy...speaks broken english...but he cant help with pricing as they pass so many corrupted guys to do business...

Their UF8 is 100USD more than the usual price. That's not too over-priced. Looks like it's better to get it direct from China.
