A bassist needs to know scales & harmony theory to play more than just the roots

A lot of notion that "Bassist just needs to know the root to play" which I believe it's not true. Yes, we usually prioritize the root but doesn't mean we don't do more than just that. Keeping the rhythm section as the backbone of the band also means being creative in grooving as well as embellishing our playing.
