Suggestions to improve soft buy/sell :)))

Hi soft admin, Ive been using your Buy/Sell section and it's great to have a platform for budding musicians to trade their new or preloved wares. Its been especially helpful to me as a cash strapped student find necessary equipment for my rig:)

While the platform is great and really useful, I do feel that it can include some improvements. I also frequent another buy and sell platform carousell and i think that perhaps Soft can take a cue from it.

1) Design a platform like soft where pictures can be seen without actually having to click on the link, makes for better advertising. (kinda like ebay)

2) Split the sections further into Buy, sell, trade

3) Increase the word search limit. It is very frustrating to not be able to search for common keywords like wtb, wts (if #2 is implemented this wouldnt be an issue) Also, other keywords like vox, sg, ht5, ts9..... lists goes on and on is not able to register in the search. I then have to google it, restict search to singapore and within a few months just to get results. Not very convenient:(

4) lastly, have a more comprehensive posting and search function. Perhaps when posting an ad, it is possible to include price, where to deal. And thus when searching, can list the ads in say descending price.

I know all these changes are extremely hard to implement in the short term as it involves redesigning the entire website but maybe in the distant future such improvements may be considered. I love this forum a lot and i hope that it gets even better next time!
Cheers:)))

Hi jeff0603

Thanks for the suggestions! Yes, those are all very good points and I will see how we can improve it along.

James, people are getting incredibly toxic these days, please make the reputation points visible again, this actually helped me a lot when i was getting started way back as the reputation points were a deterring factor when dealing with people.

Toxicity aside, I feel that people simply seem to be lacking common sense these days. There are far too many sellers pricing their merch several hundred dollars above first hand prices. You don't even have to look far just take a look at the first page of the bass classifieds.

People listing guitars as COMPLETELY MINT, going on to say "except for a few scratches or the fact that I've blacked out the logo with a marker". There's a ton who simply copy and paste a url leading to their old ad, often failing to even do that much as they copy the shortened url instead of the whole one. As well as those that simply post ads with practically next to no details on the item, some even forget to leave a contact number. Additionally, it doesn't help that trying to point these out gets you a response something often along the lines of "It's my item, you don't like don't buy la." or similar lines where they seem to feel attacked by constructive comments.

I don't buy into the mentality over here of minding your own business and leaving people to their own devices and not being "kaypoh". I don't see much to be bothered over somebody trying to educate you about something you should know in the first place.
