Workshop concept

The objective of this workshop is to enhance the audio engineer’s versatility and ability to adapt and work in a multitude of areas relevant to broadcast media. In an industry of rapidly evolving technology, it is imperative that the engineer is equipped with the knowledge and technical understanding to be able to deliver world class products in a number of creative fields; this will in turn create demand for the engineer’s work and expertise on a global scale.

In this workshop, a series of practical activities allow the participant to engage in discussion, tutorials, and hands-on involvement which will culminate in three completed projects that the participant can then incorporate into their own show reel/portfolio.

Practical project themes

Complete a multi-track Mix down for a recorded song
Create radio content for a radio show
Mix and sync sound to a TV commercial

Learning outcomes

Advanced use of digital software technology (ProTools)
Edit and mix sound for a variety of mediums (Audio, Radio and TV)
Audio mix principles for music production
Audio mix principles for radio content
Edit and mix principles for TV content
File export standards for a variety of digital mediums

Participants

Participants should have a general understanding of audio production principles equivalent to completion of a two-year vocational qualification in the field, or similar experience, and a basic working knowledge of Protools software.

Note: participants must provide their own:

Headphones with a ¼ inch jack
Portable external Hard Drive
