Hey guys,

I was wondering if there are any gurus out there that can help me with this issue.

This bass that i've got doesn't produce any sound, and i have a feeling that there's something wrong with the pots. I've tried measuring them with a multimeter and the results produces are weird?

Anyways,

-> = measured by multimeter

500k A pot -> 4M resistance shows: 0.010 on multimeter
50K B pot -> 400K resistance shows: 29.1 on multimeter
other 50K B pot -> 400k resistance shows 29.8 on multimeter

:/

help please!

If you are getting no sound from the bass then there is a problem with the wiring somewhere. Is it an active or passive bass?

If it is a passive bass you should be able to put a cable into the bass and measure the resistance of the pickup by rolling the volume and tone knobs to full and measuring across the two contacts. Do this for each of the pickup settings. If you get a very high reading (above 20kOhms) there is a problem. Try cleaning all the switches and pots with contact cleaner and try again.

If the bass is active, make sure there are no breaks in the battery wiring circuit.

Hope this helps.

cheers,

Mark.
