The MadHatter Project drives its sound around the piano and/or keyboards. It is through this configuration that we write, create and turn what already exists on its heads. Coupled with a worldview that is oxymoronically both optimistic and cynical, the result is music that is quirky and flamboyant yet introverted and introspective.

Amanda picked up the guitar only by chance and without any musical or theory background whatsoever, not knowing that it would help pave her way towards being a dedicated musician in the local scene.

Starting to perform at the age of 14, she has spent the past 11 years garnering more experience and lessons playing with various people, and also ensuring that she does her part for charities, making sure she signs herself up for charity busking events whether she has time for it or not.

Amanda’s main influences include Joni Mitchell, Suzanne Vega, Damien Rice, Ani Difranco, Anais Mitchell, Tori Amos and many more. Her music tends to meld both the acoustic guitar and her vocals together smoothly.

Amanda has shared the stage with various local personalities such as local veteran musicians Patrick Chng, Nelson Tan from In Each Hand a Cutlass, Jack & Rai, Ngak Ng, the Singapore Char Siew Baos, Clement Yang and many more.

She’s released 2 EPs to date, Take It or Leave It (2011) and Amnesiac (2014). Both were solely written, produced, arranged and recorded by herself, granting her full control over the music.

Bittymacbeth's songwriting tells it like it is. Inspired by negative experiences - hers' and others' - the music is the by-product of suffering and sorrow, a meaningful message to inspire listeners to rise above challenges and opposition.

One on hand, it largely revolves around extensive band arrangements of soul, funk and blues-rock songs, with trumpets, saxophones, harmonicas, kalimbas, organs, and synthesizers on top of the standard guitar-keyboards-bass-drums setup. On the other, she’s recently made her foray into the world of live looping, coupled with a large element of improvisation, mainly with vocals and bass.

She is also currently the band leader of Afterglow (National Arts Council Noise Singapore The Music Mentorship 2014 selected band), an alumna of the Esplanade’s Bright Young Things programme (performing with the band Butter Chiclets) and was the frontwoman of Formalisms (SPEAR record label artiste).

Peter Hoflich is a writer living in Singapore who's also a life-long music addict. A late-starter in playing and performing music, he picked up the guitar at age 32, the year his son Zen was born, and has been working on his act ever since. Performing in local hard rock bands since 2010 at a variety of Singapore and Malaysia venues, he currently plays in the Black Sabbath tribute band MegalomaniA, which is playing at the Platinum Music Disco Bar in Lucky Plaza in Singapore on October 24th. He has written lyrics for other musicians, but now focuses on writing his owns tunes and lyrics, often performing as a solo act as well. His musical tastes are guitar-based, veering from Leonard Cohen to Godflesh and everywhere in between. He doesn't have a Slipstream or a Musobuzz fanpage, but is looking to release some vinyl in 2015.

EIO was born when your not-so-average Singaporean, Edward Cheang, decided he needed an avenue to release his pent up frustration about the world around him.

Influenced by the likes of The White Stripes and The Strokes, Edward's brand of minimalistic blues rock features catchy rhythms, tongue-twisting wordplay and a voice that sounds like its straight from a scratchy record.

Edward has played at various locations in Singapore, including Hard Rock Cafe, Kohii Gourmet Cafe, Molly Malones, The Beast and various other places. He has also been lucky to have his music played in America.

His music is written from his perspective and how he views the world. Taking his love for poetry and placing it in his music, he aims to pain a beautiful picture with every melody he plays.

With a powerful yet musical harmonica style, Kelvin Ng is acknowledged as a master of blues harmonica by his peers. Coupled with a strong and soulful voice, he is recognised as a major blues talent in Singapore and the region. While he understands the nuances of the blues deeply and is often steep in tradition, he and his band are constantly exploring new rhythms and sonic textures to create fresh and original sounds.

Enthusiastic about performing live, he has opened for Robben Ford and shared the stage with various international blues and roots acts such as the Holmes Brothers (US), Harry Manx (Canada), Enrico Crivellaro (Italy) and Dom Turner (Australia). Known as Smokey in the local music scene, he has performed with local music legends like Jeremy Monteiro and Siva Choy, and popular local bands like The Blues Machine (Crazy Elephant houseband) and ublues.

Highly adaptable to other forms of music, Kelvin has recorded harmonica for Mandarin pop superstars such as Jacky Cheung, Stephanie Sun, Eric Moo and Na Ying. He played on the theme song for local Chinese TV drama series "Toa Payoh".

Kelvin is also the first and only Singaporean to officially endorse Hohner harmonicas, the world's leading brand in quality harmonicas. This puts him in the league of the best harmonica players in the world who share this prestigious endorsement with the iconic German brand.

With a poignant, acoustic sound combining the 'emotional punch of Damien Rice and the lyrical sensitivities of Dylan', Loong's music connects and challenges across cultures. A philosophy teacher-turned singer-songwriter, Loong has performed internationally in venues as diverse as the Peninsula Hotel, the famous Water Rats in London (where Oasis made their debut), and even a lepers' colony in India. With his family rooted in Singaporean and British culture, music from his latest EP, 'Finding My Sound' (2013), pieces together questions about identity, community and growing up as a product of Eastern and Western culture.

Self described as a 'sojourner trying to make sense of a mixed up world one song at a time', Loong believes in the power of music to change people and communities in positive ways.

Joining him for SOFT TV is Sheryl Ting on piano.

If you're active in the Singapore rock music scene, chances are you will know who Kevin Mathews is. The 52 year old is involved in the scene in various capacities viz. artist manager, journalist, mentor and of course, singer-songwriter/performer.

As a composer, Mathews is probably best known for his #1 radio hit, "My One & Only", recorded in 1993 with Watchmen. In August 2013, Mathews celebrates the 20th anniversary of his beloved tune with the release of Emo FASCISM, his first full-length album since Popland's Action was issued by US indie label ZIP Records, back in 2002.

Joining him for SOFT TV is Eileen Chai on violin.

Formed in late 2013, this relatively young band has come a long way since as a working trio. When Michael Intrator came to Singapore, not knowing anyone in the music scene, he posted an ad for a backing vocalist on an open Facebook group for local musicians. Not knowing what he was getting himself into, Chris Bong answered and the two haven't looked back since. When the need finally arose for a percussionist, Chris' friend Alvin from university days stepped up to the challenge to add yet another dimension to the band. And coming in to add depth and thicken the vocal arrangements, Lyndsey Long brings her 'A' game every time she slings her bass on and steps up to the mic.

Zacquine Miken is a multi-musician singer-songwriter who plays the piano, ukulele, guitar, harmonica and violin. She loves creating 'Boom Beat' percussion and drum sounds out of self-constructed instruments or common household items like pails, spoons and buckets, and yes, even the sound of hitting one's fists against the wooden cupboards delights her!

Zacquine was featured as one of the main band acts (with her band ‘After Breeze’) at the recent CAFÉ FESTIVAL (www.cafefest.sg) on 6 September 2014 at the Esplanade, and has performed with bands like D'Lectriq Voyager, Black Diamond Folds, Quantum Spring, Scarlet Resonnance and Seedbed in several music festivals such as the Baybeats Festival, Mosaic Festival, Sonic Fest, Heart Christmas Festival and many more. She has also won a few songwriting awards, such as the 'Songs I Write' songwriting competition held at the SPH auditorium in 2007, where she bagged the championship title for her song 'Falling'. The same song 'Falling' had also reached the Number 2 position in the 'Breathecast' Christian Music Billboard charts. Zacquine has also appeared in interviews and performances on live music TV channels like LiveOMusic.

Ever passionate about music, Zacquine never stops trying to learn to play a new musical instrument; the latest being the flute, and she hopes to play the harp one day too! She does not believe in limiting herself to any one particular genre of music, and has experimented with various styles like electro, jazz, alternative, trip-hop, rock, goth, pop, ambient and funk, and she's even devised her own unique genre of 'Scifi Electro' that she coined for her band D'Lectriq Voyager. Zacquine is currently working on her new solo album titled 'Journey'.

Inaugurated in the 1980’s, Flame of the Forest is one of Singapore’s early instrumental bands that composed and performed fusion music. Today, award-winning Singaporean brothers Krsna and Govin Tan whose father is 1/3 of the original Flame of the Forest band succeed Flame of the Forest.

The duo takes on the roles of preserving traditional arts that are slowly forgotten as Singapore move towards a cosmopolitan society and globalized world. Flame of the Forest aims to “beautify” the local arts scene while serving as a bridge between musical traditions of Asia and the West and hence they collaborated with their cousin Dexter Tan (violin) and Christopher Johann Clarke (Guitar).

They widen its outreach by performing regularly at various national parks, communities and schools.

Flame of the Forest is driven by passion and unites through their hunger for experimentation of music and not forgetting to honor their tradition. Though the instrumental duo is predominantly Indian in nature, Flame of the Forest kept their music alive with modern interpretations from vastly different genres of music and aims to create harmony in melodies.

Known for their performance standards and versatility, Flame of the Forest has performed at numerous prestigious events such as World Health Summit (Singapore), Singapore Grand Prix, International New York Times – S.E.A. of Luxury, Entrepreneurs for the World Award Ceremony.

Flame of the Forest hopes to inspire, influence, educate and communicate through their music.

The passion and love for original music unites a unified organism of individual and complementary parts to pursue a unique musical journey/experience. Feel the positive vibes on a sunny island across the busy streets in a sensory melodic harmonies.

The band started when Ben met childhood friends Andry and Endra at a musician’s meetup in Singapore in 2011. Shortly after the meetup they started playing together and collaborating. The musical connection colored the songs with a palate that blended three creative voices. Over the course of a few years the three slowly recorded five songs. Endra played drums on all songs and added the scratch guitar on All The Way, Ben played bass and guitars (even sang backup on Right Is Wrong), and Andry sang, played guitar, and ukulele. Addib’f re-recorded the bass on Beyond Them Gone, Older and 31, and All The Way and Pauli lent his skills on the keyboard for the recording. Endra and Ben initially mixed the music. Ben continued to mix and master the songs.

Carmine and Imran joined the band in 2014 to replace former bassist Addib'f and keyboardist Eddie.
